  * Balance of technical and business understanding
  * Some front line experience
  * Some good system and structured thinkers
  * Longer term perspective: ‘And then what?’
  * Emotional intelligence and communications skills
  * Strong proportion of people who can ‘embrace uncertainty’, probabilistic and scenario thinking
  * Some openness to change – but not novelty for its own sake
  * Honesty and integrity
  * Leadership skills to get others to buy into our new ways of working
